Guys. I know I suck. No need to tell me. I know it has been a bazillion years since my last post. This post will almost be irrelevant at this point since it happened back in JULY and it is now OCTOBER. I bring shame to the blogging world. But I still want to share …

Turns out I’m not completely useless in weightlifting right now. Considering I have not been able to work on leg strength in months, somehow, I dug deep into my janky soul, and managed to successfully jerk 82kg / 180lbs for a 2kg PR. A very rare occasion these days in my training life with my janky …

#tbt to last week’s #MaxOutFriday where I PR’d my clean and jerk – as janky as it was – at 80kg/176lbs. And sadly, my last max out for a while. Time to be a responsible athlete and get my shoulder (and hip) healthy. Ugh. #weightlifting

Finally…FINALLY broke into the 2-hundos (lbs) on my front squat! Nearly a 4kg/8lb pr at 93kg/203lbs. This pic is when I finally hit 91kg/200lbs and then went on to hit 93kg/203lbs. Next stop…break into 3-digit (kg) front squat. Glad to see my strength going up even though lift numbers have been kind of stalled 😒.

I scored myself a snatch and clean & jerk PR today….FINALLY! I hadn’t PR’d in either of these lifts since waxman’s no pressure meet. No video of the lifts so I’ll express my happiness through dance. Went 58/74 (128lb/164lb). More to come…

Had some knowledge bombs dropped on me today at @juggernauttraining’s weightlifting classic by a stellar group of high profile coaches/athletes – and scored a jerk PR! Thank you @crossfiteastredlands for not telling me what weight I was jerking since I still suck at converting kilos to pounds on the spot 😂.

It’s official. I now officially identify as a Weightlifter that CrossFits. For a while there it was an identity crisis. I mean, I’ve been a CrossFitter for nearly five years. That’s what I knew and loved. I still do love it, and still do it. But I fell in love with weightlifting more.  Funny that …

A 4kg/9lb split jerk PR even though I was bloated? I’ll take it! This is 77kg/170lb split jerk followed by a 79kg/175lb attempt. Videos expose everything. I can see I’m still shorting my split when it gets heavy. And have a slight press out with my right arm. All a work in progress. 🚫 #instacoaching

Couple weeks ago I finally hit a 125lb/57kg snatch! It helps to look back and see how far I’ve come over these last few months. Just nearly 4 months ago my 1RM snatch was 105lbs and it felt heavy as shit back then. Excited for what’s to come from The Outlaw Way!

An unexpected clean and jerk pr at 72.5kg/160lbs (10lb pr)! Yes…I know I caught it high, back rounded a bit, didn’t drive under it enough and pressed out at end of jerk – but I’m still stoked! I have things to work on, such as working on getting under the bar faster and catching it lower so that I can pull more weight and get under it. Same with the jerk, I need to pull myself under faster and lower, let the weight push me down versus fighting the bar. Following The Outlaw Way has helped a ton in reaching some of my training goals – key is to stick to a program, don’t go program hopping just because you get bored or too hard.
